Richmond County Health Department Augusta, Georgia This
project included a Facility Assessment and Master Plan.
The facility includes education, administration and clinic
space. The 42,000 sq.
ft. facility and 140,000 sq. ft. of parking areas, courtyards, and
gardens doubled as an urban renewal project replacing an urban city
block of dilapidated homes, crack houses, and failed businesses. The
project called for the design of a building footprint that would be
in keeping with the existing urban fabric of the Laney Walker
Community as well as provide adequate parking. Other key elements include shaded outdoor seating areas,
street crossings, and strong pedestrian access from surrounding
neighborhoods to the health facility. Richmond
